ReTanning

After the skin is tanned and kept for a period of time, subsequently they are placed into re-tanning, dyeing and fatliquoring. In general the objective of these processes is:

  • To improve the fullness and roundness of the leather

  • To improve the softness of the leather

  • To improve the grain-break of the leather

  • To improve the pasting properties for paste drying purposes

  • To improve the wettability of the grain, for improved adhesion of the finish

  • To improve the color of the leather into the desired level

  • To improve the flexibility of the leather by introducing fat into the leather
